Weaving - Seascape Wallhanging Workshop Tuesday 14th December


This wallhanging workshop is designed to give learners the opportunity to weave a seascape scene by adding textures, using novelty yarns, blending colours and weaving shapes.

This will include-

  • Understand the function of a frame loom
  • Learn weaving terms –warp, weft, plain/tabby weave, arcing the weft and setting up the warp
  • Understand and apply plain weave structure
  • Learn to join a new thread
  • Apply a fringe (rya knot technique)
  • Add texture using novelty yarns
  • Blending colour
  • Finishing off techniques

Suitable for- All adults with reasonable hand dexterity. Ideally for those who have completed our mug rug course but can accommodate new learners too.  

If you have any materials you would like to add to your weave (e.g. beads, recycled materials, driftwood), bring them along!

Materials and refreshment also provided. 

The class runs from 10am to 1pm and is held at our shop at 8a East Street, Ware, Herts, SG12 9HJ.  

The Small Print:
  • We need a minimum of 4 course attendees to make the course fun for you and worthwhile for us.  If less than 4 people have booked this workshop a week beforehand, we will cancel that date and reschedule and/or offer a refund.
  • If you cancel your booking within one week of the class commencing, we will attempt to fill your place.  If we cannot fill the place, we are sorry, we cannot refund your fee.
  • If your circumstances change and you wish to transfer onto a different workshop, we reserve the right to charge a transfer fee - £10 for a single session workshop, £20 for a longer course. This is to partially compensate us for an empty place on a course that we cannot fill.
  • We are setting up these workshops in the hope and expectation that there will be no restrictions on meeting indoors. In the event that Covid-19 restrictions are in place, we will reschedule the workshop.  At all times we will comply with government guidelines for your safety and ours.
  • Crates of Wool Ltd acts as agent for Crates of Wool Training & Services Ltd which provides all our workshops.   Crates of Wool Training & Services Ltd is not registered for VAT therefore no VAT is charged on our workshops.
