Autumn / Winter New Lines - Sirdar and West Yorkshire Spinners
Autumn is always an exciting time if you're a yarn addict and this season is shaping up to be a great one in yarn terms. Our favourite suppliers have come up with some really interesting and attractive new lines which we are keen to share with you.
First up: Sirdar.
We have two of their new lines: Saltaire Aran and Haworth Tweed DK as well as some new colourways in old favourites.
Saltaire Aran is a very feminine, soft and drapey mix of Alpaca, acrylic and nylon. It comes in muted shades and the alpaca gives the fabric a slight haze so it's just perfect for a special piece for your autumn wardrobe.
Haworth Tweed DK is a range of richly-nepped yarns in a soft merino blend that is so light and easy to wear. Imagine yourself in a classical tweedy cardigan but at a fraction of the weight - it's a great idea.
We love the range of colours - there are rich blues and beautiful neutrals. The yarn itself is round and bouncy and so should produce great colourwork and cables.
The patterns are excellent. There is something here for everyone and they have thought about the more-advanced knitter, too, with some garments using intarsia and worked in the round. Don't let that put you off, though - remember we will always help with getting you started with new techniques.
As well as all this, Sirdar have added some new colours to their popular Jewelspun and Snuggly Replay lines. There's a new range of patterns for each. Here's a taste:
West Yorkshire Spinners
West Yorkshire Spinners have brought out this year's Christmas special sock yarns - part of their popular Signature 4-ply range - and very special they are too. This year 2 of the colours are sparkly! The have also brought out a lovely book featuring 6 patterns by Winwick Mum.
We'll look at some other supplier soon. So many lovely new things to show you!
