Summer Home - new workshop series

Following the success of our 2024 Summer of Bags, on Saturday mornings this summer we'll be celebrating the Summer Home with a series of fun workshopalongs. These sessions are a mashup of our traditional workshops and a makealong: meaning that we'll get together to craft the item of the week with some tuition along the way. We'll show you at least 2 techniques each week and will provide some yarn for you to practice with, so they're more lightweight than our traditional workshops but just as much fun. Last year had some amazingly fun days with people sparking ideas off of each other.
You'll have all morning to try out the techniques and work on your own creation using yarn you buy or bring along. You could even stay and join in the Saturday afternoon Craft and Chatters so you can get finished.
Some weeks we'll have guest tutors running a more formal workshop too.
We'll start on Saturday July 5th. Each Workshopalong will run from 10:30 until 12:30pm. The Craft and Chatter sessions are from 2 until 4pm and cost £3. You could bring a packed lunch too! We have space for around 10 people at our table so booking will be necessary.
July 5th's project is a Tunisian Crochet Coaster. You don't need to have done any Tunisian crochet before but you will need basic crochet skills: holding the hook, chains, double-crochets.
July 12th we will be working with circles and hexagons. We'll learn how to make flat circles and hexies suitable for coasters and then we'll play with making circles larger, varying the stitches and colours.

On July 26th, friend of the shop, Andrew Kite (Kitey) will be back to teach us how to make his glorious crocheted terrarium.
You will learn how to crochet a handful of miniature plants to make your own crocheted terrarium, using an original ‘recipe style’ pattern, and hand-dyed yarn that will all be provided to you as part of the kit. You will also explore how you might add beads and other embellishments to your creation, if you wish to take things further in your own time.

2nd August we'll be learning how to make beautiful knitted or crocheted Plant pot hangers. Starting with a simple recipe, we will also explore how you might add beads, tassels and other embellishments to your creation to truly make them your own

And on 9th August we have a very special guest tutor - Anna Nikipirowicz of moochka.co.uk to teach Tunisian Crochet in the Round. Tunisian Crochet is a wonderful craft that perfectly incorporates knit and crochet, producing fabric like no other. During this class, we will learn how to work Tunisian Crochet in the round using different stitches, Tunisian mosaic crochet and much more and you will be given a pattern for a fab cushion to practice your newly learned skills.
